There are 48 hours left to register for Tamayouz Excellence Award’s 2020 cycle with the early bird discount rates. Starting on 1 April, the registration prices will rise to their standard rates.

Tamayouz has seven awards: two graduation project awards, two thematic architectural competitions, two awards that recognise individuals and organisations, and a lifetime achievement award.

The two graduation project awards awards recognise excellence in graduation projects for international and Iraqi students of architecture. They aim to promote and provoke architectural debate, share architectural experience and exchange knowledge among young architects and academics.

‘Gone with the Wave’ by Victoria Fedorova from Moscow, Russia. This project was shortlisted for the International Graduation Projects Award in 2019.

The two thematic competitions are the Rifat Chadirji Prize and the Dewan Award for Architecture. This year, the Rifat Chadirji Prize calls for design solutions for a living pedestrian bridge in Cairo, Egypt connecting Midan Al-Tahrir Area (East Bank) to Al Zamalek area (West Bank). While, for the Dewan Award for Architecture, architects are asked to design a youth house complex in Baghdad’s Sadr City.

In addition to the two thematic prizes and student awards, Tamayouz looks forward to celebrating individuals via its Women in Architecture and Construction Prize, the Middle Eastern Architectural Personality of the Year (or Mohamed Makiya Prize), and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Barjeel Museum by Islam Alnahrawy, Ingy khalifa and Yihia Qandil for the Rifat Chadirji Award in 2019.
