Nominations are now open for the 2014 Tamayouz Women in Architecture and Construction Award

Tamayouz Excellence Award is seeking candidates for the two honours celebrating women in architecture and construction; the Tamayouz Women in Architecture and Construction and the Emerging Woman Architect.

Tamayouz Women in Architecture and Construction Award is an excellence award for women who have contributed to the fields of architecture and construction throughout Iraq. the award aims to support and empower women working in the fields of architecture, construction and landscape.

In 2013 the Tamayouz Women in Architecture and Construction Award was awarded to Jala Makhzoumi in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the status of women in architecture. The jury for this award comprised of; Angela Brady PPRIBA, Professor Paul Ivey pro-vice Chancellor of Birmingham City University and renowned Iraqi architect and academic Professor Khaled Al-Sultany.

The two categories are:
– Women in Architecture and Construction Award: this award category recognises women’s contribution to the field of architecture, enhancement of the status of women, achievements and lifelong commitment to the profession.

– Emerging Women Architects Award: this award category recognises excellence in design, leadership, early career achievements and bright future ahead.


Candidates must be an Iraqi Citizen and/or employed in Iraq specializing in fields of architecture and construction and/or living abroad but their contribution has a direct impact on the profession of architecture in Iraq or the built environment. Candidates must also have made a contribution to help advance the profession or a difference within their community using their skills.

Candidates applying to the Emerging Women Architects award must be born after 1973 (40 years old or younger).

graduation projects cannot be submitted as an achievement.

Tamayouz Excellence Award is sponsored by: Coventry University, United Nations Global Compact, Iraqi Business Council in Jordan, Dewan Architects and Engineers, Al-Dulaimi Business Group, Ayad Al-Tuhafi Architects, University of Kurdistan Hewler, Eastern Holding Group, Surchi Contracting and Al-Qabas Economical Group.
